Welcome Back!
The first Swap Shop of the academic year was delivered by the Languages department...
The department shared differentiated starter resources and a really useful booklet, packed full of resources. Members of the MFL department demonstrated how to use the resources with each group. After the session one teacher was overheard exclaiming, 'I would have been really good at French if I had been taught like that!'
Here are the activities and instructions. Follow the hyperlinks which will lead you to the relevant web pages:
Tarsia Puzzle
Spot the Spelling Mistake
Text with mistakes in it. The easier level has the mistakes underlined. The intermediate level has the number of mistakes, but no indication of where they are and the higher level has no clue about the mistakes.
Reconstruct the text
Text in English cut up. Students have to reconstruct the text and then reconstruct the same text in French. Foundation level – just have to reconstruct the text. Intermediate level – there are gaps in the text with words to complete the gaps. Higher level – gaps in the text, but students have to complete the gaps themselves.
“Murking Furds in a Wuddle”
See how many words you
can make from a grid. Students could use
a dictionary.
Extension:
Students must use a certain letter.
Diff:
Make it easier by providing more letters in a larger grid.
Prize
for the most words.
